PMB graduate student, Franklin Aviles-Vazquez, was one of ten PhD students selected from across the university to be a 2023 inductee in the JHU chapter of the Edward A Bouchet Graduate Honor Society. The Bouchet Society honors Edward Alexander Bouchet, who, in 1876, became the first African-American doctoral recipient in the United States. Members of this prestigious honor society exemplify the five Bouchet qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, service, and advocacy for those traditionally underrepresented in the academy. Congratulations, Franklin!
