Professor Karen G. Fleming (center) was announced as the first recipient of the Sharona Gordon Award by the Society of General Physiologists for her efforts as a leader in identifying & communicating problems that affect scientific environments such as unintended bias and lack of diversity in science. Professor Fleming was the first ever to receive this award, created in recognition of Sharona Gordon’s contributions to improve the scientific environment in promoting equity and inclusivity.
