Tanya Nesterova NSF GRFP!

Tanya Nesterova in front of a research poster on Spatiotemporal Control of Bacterial Cell Division

A big congratulations to Tanya Nesterova who was recently awarded an NSF GRFP fellowship! In Dr. Jian Liu’s lab, Tanya writes Brownian dynamics simulations to determine how different proteins spatiotemporally regulate bacterial cell division.

This computational modelling is performed in synergy with experimental collaborations from Dr. Jie Xiao’s lab. The Xiao lab performs single molecule biophysics experiments to probe the foundational principles of bacterial cell division using E. coli as a model system. She also has a penchant for mentorship in DEI and would like to increase the representation of women in computational sciences through teaching and participation in outreach events.
